How to prepare Spiced Carrots
To prepare the spiced carrots, start by thoroughly washing the baby carrots one by one under running water 1. Then place them on a cutting board and trim them with a small knife, removing the green stem 2. Take the steamer and fill it halfway with water (if you don't have one, you can use a large pot and an aluminum colander), heat the water over medium heat, and in the meantime, add the bay leaves 3.
Then add the peppercorns 4, juniper berries 5, cloves, and cardamom seeds 6.
Finally, add the cinnamon stick 7. When the water starts to simmer, place the steamer basket on top. Once the basket is hot, add the carrots 8. Cover with a lid and let cook for about 20 minutes 9.
When the baby carrots are cooked 10, transfer them to a serving platter. Salt 11 and pepper to taste. Finally, drizzle with a bit of oil 12 and if you like, you can season your baby carrots with a grating of nutmeg and ground cinnamon!
