Preparation

How to prepare Apple French Toast

To make the Apple French Toast, first wash the apples, cut them in half 1, remove the core 2, and slice them about a quarter-inch thick, without peeling them 3.

Transfer the apple slices to a large skillet, add the sugar 4, fresh oregano 5, and cinnamon, and cook over low heat until the sugar has dissolved: it will take about 5-6 minutes.

Squeeze the orange juice and add it to the apples in the skillet only when the sugar has dissolved 7, then continue cooking over low heat for another couple of minutes 8. Once cooked, set the apples aside temporarily and move on to preparing the French toast: cut the sandwich bread slices in half 9,

then in a separate bowl, combine the eggs and milk 10 and beat with a whisk 12. Now melt the butter in a non-stick skillet over a very low flame, dip the sandwich bread slices in the milk and egg mixture 12

and place them in the hot skillet 13. Toast the sandwich bread on both sides for 1-2 minutes: it should be nicely golden 14. Transfer the toasted sandwich bread slices to plates and garnish with powdered sugar and hazelnut crumbs, then serve your Apple French Toast accompanied by a bowl of honey 15!

Storage

It is recommended to consume the Apple French Toast immediately, or store it in the refrigerator for a maximum of one day. Freezing is not recommended.

Tip

For sautéing the apples, you can use whole cane sugar instead of granulated sugar and add a pinch of powdered ginger!
