How to prepare Almond Flour Cake
To prepare the almond flour cake, put the butter in a bowl 1 and melt it in the microwave for a few seconds 2 (alternatively you can melt it in a bain-marie). Gather the chocolate chips in a bowl as well (the same amount of chopped chocolate will work) 3.
Melt them in the same way, in the microwave 4 or in a bain-marie. Now pour the melted butter into the melted chocolate 5 and stir to combine thoroughly 6.
In a bowl, combine the eggs and the sugar 7, then beat with electric beaters 8 until you obtain a pale and fluffy mixture. At this point pour in the chocolate and butter mixture 9.
Now fold in the almond flour 10, the potato starch 11 and the sifted baking powder 12.
Beat again with the beaters until the dry ingredients are well absorbed 13. Finally, scent the batter with grated orange zest 14. Pour the batter into an 8-inch (20 cm) springform pan lined with parchment paper (How to line a cake tin with parchment paper) 15.
Spread the batter evenly, leveling the surface with the back of a spoon 16, then scatter the sliced almonds on top 17 and bake in a conventional oven at 352°F for about 40 minutes 18.
To check for doneness, insert a toothpick which should come out dry. Remove from the oven 19 and let cool completely before removing it from the pan. When serving, transfer to a serving plate and dust with powdered sugar 20. Your almond flour cake is ready to enjoy 21!
